What We Do
StellarTies generates synastry charts, compatibility scores, monthly transit forecasts, and language-model-generated relationship narratives. Every calculation starts with the exact positions of celestial bodies at the moment of birth, computed to sub-arcsecond precision. We then map the geometric relationships between two people's charts across four relationship dimensions: intimacy, flow, adventure, and growth.

Methodology
Swiss Ephemeris
All planetary positions are calculated using the Swiss Ephemeris library (version 2.10), which interpolates NASA's JPL DE431 dataset. This is the same data source used by professional observatories and spacecraft navigation. Accuracy: sub-arcsecond for all dates between 13,000 BCE and 16,800 CE.
Aspect Detection
Cross-chart aspects are detected using exact angular geometry with configurable orb tolerances. Personal planet pairs receive wider orbs (8°) than outer planet contacts (5°). Generational aspects shared by birth cohorts are automatically flagged and weighted down to prevent score inflation.
Interpretation Library
280+ curated interpretation entries anchor the narrative layer. Each entry maps a specific planet-aspect combination to psychologically grounded descriptions informed by traditional astrological frameworks. These entries are written by humans, not generated.
Narrative Synthesis
A large language model synthesizes scored aspect data and interpretation entries into coherent narratives. The model receives only planetary positions, aspect geometry, and nicknames — never raw birth data. It cannot invent aspects that don't exist in the underlying calculations.

- Transit calculations: Daily scanning of Mars through Pluto against natal and composite chart points, 1.5° orb
- Interpretation framework: 280+ curated entries combining traditional astrological texts with modern relationship psychology
- Famous couple birth data: Sourced from publicly available records (all individuals featured are deceased)
Privacy & Security
Birth data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. The language model never receives personally identifiable information — only planetary coordinates, aspect geometry, and privacy aliases. We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

StellarTies provides relationship intelligence: structured insights about the mathematical dynamics between two charts, synthesized into language that helps couples understand their connection more clearly. We do not provide predictions of literal events, medical advice, legal guidance, or directives about whether to stay in or leave a relationship.
